Who is Gerry Cinnamon?

Gerry Cinnamon – real name Gerry Crosbie  – is a 33-year-old a Scottish singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist.

He comes from Castlemilk in Glasgow and cites artists such as Cast, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, The Rolling Stones, Oasis and The Beatles as his inspiration.

What does he say about this tour?

He says: “The last stint was top class. Expect nothing less from these gigs. The live shows have become something pretty special. There’s something happening, I don’t know what it is but it’s happening, you can feel it, it’s undeniable.

“To be honest I’ve been trying to keep a lid on it but the bonfires burning now and it’s the best buzz ever so what else am I gonna do?!”

What does he say about the state of the music industry today?

He told Glasgow Live: “The only reason I’m in this game is because it’s full of impostors ruining music and my very existence annoys them and it pleases me. If you’re a working class musician hearing this or reading it and you respect the art of song writing more than the art of pretending then you have a responsibility to get involved.

“There’s a war on for real music and if you’re sound and can write decent tunes then you’re on the front line whether you like it or not.”

What do others say about him?

Festival boss Geoff Ellis reckons Gerry’s rise to fame could match that of Oasis. He told NME: “Gerry Cinnamon is huge, I’ve not seen a phenomenon like Gerry since Oasis, in terms of his rapid ascendancy.

“I remember when we had Oasis playing the King Tut’s tent at T in the Park and then they headlined Loch Lomond only a few years later. That trajectory hasn’t happened since, but Gerry, certainly in Scotland, is one on that same path. He could sell out stadiums soon.”
