Gerrard, Suarez, Hazard and David Silva face off in World Cup of PL greats

We’re past the halfway point in the group stage of our World Cup of Premier League greats, and this one has the potential to be a real nailbiter.

Group E pits four of the best attacking talents the division has ever seen up against each other, with a reminder that only two can go through to the last-16.

In the red corner there’s Steven Gerrard, who famously never won the Premier League title but was an at times unstoppable force during his time in the division, establishing himself as one of game’s great midfielders.

In the, er, other red corner there’s Gerrard’s former Reds teammate Luis Suarez, who was an absolute hurricane of goals, skills and controversies during his three-and-a-half years in England.

Next up in the blue corner is Eden Hazard, who shone at Chelsea for seven years, producing occasionally outrageous moments before his move to Real Madrid last summer.

And then in the light blue corner is Manchester City legend David Silva, a man regarded by many City fans as the greatest player to ever play for the club.

Read on for more on our Group E contenders, and then vote for your favourite below.

Results will be here and on on our social channels at 10pm.

Steven Gerrard

Gerrard fires in against Everton at Goodison Park in 2001

Every fan loves it when a player comes through their club’s youth ranks, but with Liverpool and Gerrard there always seemed to be something a little bit extra in the air.

The Merseysider looked at home leading a Liverpool team from a very early age, and although he was never able to taste Premier League glory with his hometown club, the Reds would never have been anywhere near it without his efforts over a number of years.

Luis Suarez

Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 games when he won the Golden Boot the 2014

A whirlwind of a footballer, Suarez breezed into Liverpool in the same transfer window in which they sold Fernando Torres in January 2011. He would prove quite the replacement.

The Uruguayan was box office – not always for the right reasons – and his 31 goals in 33 games in 2013/14 won him the Premier League Golden Boot and took the Reds within a whisker of the league title.

Eden Hazard

Hazard won two league titles with Chelsea

The brilliant Belgian was a highly-rated talent when he arrived at Chelsea from Lille in 2012, but few could have predicted the impact he’d have at Stamford Bridge.

One of the most naturally gifted players to ever play for the club, Hazard bewitched and beguiled defenders for seven seasons, winning two league titles, before jumping ship for Real Madrid.

David Silva

Silva joined City from Valencia in the summer of 2010

When the books about this period in Manchester City’s history come to be written then they will surely have David Silva on the front cover of them.

The brilliant Spaniard has been central to all of City’s efforts in the Sheikh Mansour era, and has picked up four Premier League titles along the way.

Does he get your vote?
