George Michael’s £5m home gets repaired after Fadi Fawaz was arrested for smashing up the London mansion

GEORGE Michael’s £5m London mansion is currently being fixed up after his lover, Fadi Fawaz, was arrested for vandalising the property and telling friends he would only leave “in a box”.

The heartbroken former boyfriend of tragic George, 53, had been living in the luxury pad since the superstar passed away on Christmas Day 2016.

A workman was seen tending to the windows of one of the townhouse’s balconies, where much of the damage was spotted.

The multi-million pound property, which overlooks Regent’s Park, had been the home of George and Fadi until the Careless Whisper singer’s death in December 2016.

Ex-hairdresser Fadi had declared he would not be forced out of the luxury pad despite George’s family wanting him to leave.

And a source close to George’s estate said: “Fadi has said words to the effect that the only way he is leaving is in a box – and they will have to take him out in a coffin.”

However, last month, cops swooped in on the London mansion and arrested the 46 year-old for allegedly smashing up the late crooner’s home and causing “extensive damage”.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called on Tuesday, 23 July at around 7pm to a report of a man seen on the roof of an address.

“Officers attended and the man was no longer on the roof but inside the address, which had extensive damage.

“Due to the damage inside the property the London Fire Brigade attended.

“The man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage. He has been taken into custody at a north London police station.”

A spokesman for London Fire Bridge confirmed firefighters were called to the address at 8.24pm on Tuesday and helped clear up the leaking water. They left half an hour later.

Neighbours revealed they heard loud smashing noises and saw water gushing out of the front door.

When officers arrived, jobless Fadi was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage.

One neighbour said: “The damage inside the house is really bad. I’ve never seen anything like it.

“Every fixture and fitting, every door and window, everything George left in there – it’s all completely destroyed.

“Even the toilets and sinks have been smashed. There’s major damage to the walls and even the ceilings.

“This can’t have happened in just one night, he must have been systematically smashing the place up for a long time.

“It’s such a shame because George loved that place and it used to be so beautiful.”

The Sun on Sunday had previously revealed windows at the property had been smashed – with Fadi bizarrely claiming he was doing home improvements.

Last year it emerged the Wham! star did not leave anything for Fadi in his £96.7million will, bequeathing the bulk of his wealth to sisters Yioda and Melanie.
