George Clooney once declined an offer of 35 million US dollars (around £26.3 million) for just “one day’s work”.
The actor – who is said to be worth roughly $500 million – had a very noble reason for walking away from a lucrative opportunity.
In a new interview, the Ocean’s Eleven star explains why he declined a huge pay cheque from an airline after consulting his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.
“I was offered 35 million dollars for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal about it and we decided it’s not worth it,” he revealed to The Guardian.
“It was (associated with) a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it’.”
The confession came about when the actor, 60, was quizzed about his fiances and if he feels he has enough money in the bank after a successful career in Hollywood.
As a well known actor, director and producer, George uses his household name status for good as a committed human rights advocate.

The star is a United Nations ambassador and often engages in peacekeeping efforts across the globe.
In September 2006, he spoke to members of the United Nations Security Council at an out-of-session meeting to help mobilise political action against the violence in Darfur.
The following year, the husband to one of the world’s best human rights lawyers co-founded a non-profit organisation called Not On Our Watch – a group which uses influential people to direct global attention towards mass atrocities across the world.

Elsewhere in the star’s interview, George opened up about life as a family man.
Previously one of the world’s most famous bachelors, the former ER star shocked fans when he tied the knot with lawyer Amal in 2014.
Since then, the happy couple have gone on to welcome two children into the world, twins Ella and Alexander, born in June 2017.
George gave readers an insight into life as a father when he bonded with the interviewer about also being parents to twin children.
“Ours are so different; it’s like night and day,” the doting dad revealed.
He added: “Alexander loves to laugh and Ella’s very serious, always making sure everybody plays by the rules. They really are born with their personalities!”
George went on to reveal that he and Amal, despite having exceptionally busy jobs, don’t rely on an army of nannies and babysitters.
The mega-star admitted the couple use a nanny four days a week but are hands on the rest of the time – including throughout the whole of locked down.
Known for being quite private about his personal life, George also confirmed he and Amal are trying to shield their children from the spotlight and allow them to have a relatively normal childhood.
