Genesis reunion tour postponed to 2021 with two EXTRA shows – Here are the new dates

Genesis haven’t performed together since their brief reunion in 2007. But then in March, a Genesis reunion tour with Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford was announced on BBC Radio 2. However, The Last Domino? UK and Ireland tour set for November and December has been postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Genesis reunion tour will now go ahead in April 2021, with two extra dates added due to popular demand.

They are Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on April 7 and London’s The O2 on April 30.

A statement on the band’s official Instagram read: “Genesis have re-scheduled their 2020 UK and Irish dates for April 2021 and are excited to announce two additional shows in Birmingham and London.

“The Last Domino? Tour 2021 will now start in Glasgow on 1 April and will be @tony_banks_music, @officialphilcollins and Mike Rutherford’s first live outing together since the globe-trotting, sell-out Turn It On Again: The Tour in 2007.”

While Phil Collins’ son Nicholas will be playing the drums on the Genesis reunion tour, the 69-year-old star is adamant he will perform on the percussion instrument for some of the time.

The Genesis legend has suffered nerve problems in his hands in recent years.

And when the tour was announced he told BBC Radio 2: “For me, it wasn’t a deal-breaker but it was something that was working and it was a problem that we had to overcome with me not playing.

“Although I’m going to be doing my best to play some bits on the tour.”

Collins added: “So I’ve got to start really seriously thinking, but I have been working at what I’ve got to do and what songs to play on.”

The 69-year-old then alluded to his croaky voice saying: “Excuse my voice because I’ve been a bit sick.”

On Nicholas’ drum playing, which he’s done for his dad’s solo shows in the past, he added: “He plays a bit like me when he wants to…but I’m one of his many influences, of course, being his dad.

“And he plays like me and he has the same attitude as me, so that was a good starter.”
