Genesis are reuniting for a UK tour, having last played together in 2007.

The prog-rock band, now comprised of Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford announced their reunion on Zoe’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning.

Collins, 69, is unable to play the drums due to previous back surgery so he will be replaced by his 18-year-old son Nicolas, as well as long-standing associate Daryl Stuermer.

Rumours have been swirling for a while about them reforming, with Rutherford adding fuel to the fire at the end of last year when he hinted on Good Morning Britain that the band could reform.

He said: ‘I’ve always said, for years, never say never and we did the tour 10 years ago, and Phil is in good shape. ‘We’re all fit and healthy and we get on well, so who knows?’

Collins also hinted at the possibility of the reunion, saying: ‘We remain close friends, so you never know.’

So, where are they touring, when do tickets go on sale, and who was in the original line up?

Who were the original members of Genesis?

The founding members of Genesis, who formed in 1967, were singer Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks (keyboard), Anthony Philips (guitarist), Mike Rutherford (bassist and guitarist) and drummer Chris Stewart.

Chris Stewart left the band in 1968 after reportedly being pushed out by producer Jonathan King.

The band went through several other line up changes with members including John Silver, John Mayhew and Mark Bernard before Phil Collins joined in 1970.

When Steve Hackett joined in 1971, the line up started to stabilize a bit, with Banks, Collins, Gabriel, Hackett, and Rutherford comprising the main line up, until 1975.

By 1978 they were a three-piece, made up of Banks, Collins and Rutherford – a lineup that remained the same until 1996, until Collins left, and was replaced by Ray Wilson.

Banks, Collins and Rutherford got back together for their 2006/2007 reunion tour and form the current line up.
