Approximately a third – 1,120 – of the final list of candidates are women, compared to 959 in the 2017 general election.

Due to the alliances, dozens of seats across the country will not have a full ballot of candidates.

Mr Farage stopped the Brexit Party from standing in 317 seats but also failed to stand in more than 40 others.

Two of these, Dudley North hopeful Rupert Lowe and Hove candidate Andy Wood withdrew their application just before the 4pm deadline for nominations.
