Gemma Atkinson, 35, recently took to Instagram and slammed members of the public for venturing outside amid the UK lockdown. It comes as the Government warned people to remain indoors amid the coronavirus pandemic in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.
In view of her 1.4 million Instagram followers, the Strictly star posted a lengthy message where she slammed people who took advantage of the warm weather at the weekend.
She accompanied her post with an image of a dog, with the caption: “You have the IQ of a f***ing crayon.”
Gemma hit out at people for making life “harder” for the NHS who are currently battling through with the care of patients who are suffering from the virus.
She penned: “To the people who did / will venture out this weekend for a get-together, BBQ, sunbathing session CONGRATULATIONS! You have achieved the following.”
Gemma proceeded to list three issues with people going out in the sunshine and not following Government guidelines.
She fumed: “Putting even more pressure on our NHS. A service that one day you or your family members will need.
“You’ll be told there’s not enough beds or staff and you’ll have to wait but hey, at least you had your day out during lockdown!”
Gemma emphasised that “pressure and stress” have increased for people who have had to close their businesses and people “losing their jobs” as a result.
She continued: “Hard working good people now struggling to pay bills, mortgages, even feed their kids. But hey, at least you got your day out during lockdown!”
The mum-of-one added that people think they are “invincible” to the virus as they make it “harder” for those individuals who are following the health guidelines.
“Some elderly, in care homes or already poorly who may not be seen again,” Gemma explained.
“Because the longer you all take the p**s and believe you’re invincible and that no one else matters but you, the longer this will go on. But hey, at least you got your day out during lockdown right?”
She finished: “Congratulations. You idiots.”
Fans took to the comments section of her post to share their thoughts on the current crisis.
One person said: “Do they not realise the more they do this, the longer the lockdown will be. Honestly, selfishness is beyond belief.”
