Gemma Atkinson has revealed her and fiancé Gorka Marquez’s plans to get married abroad.
The couple first met when the actress competed on Strictly Come Dancing with 2017, with the two competing against each other in different partnerships.
After previously announcing they had got engaged on Valentine’s Day this year, Gemma, 36, has now revealed more details for their upcoming wedding.
Speaking on Steph’s Packed Lunch, the actress told presenter Steph McGovern: ‘We’re not going to do it, obviously, this year cause of everything that has gone on, the only thing we have agreed on so far is that we’re gonna do it abroad.’
Speaking of fiancé Gorka, 30, who is Spanish, she explained: ‘Gorka wants his family to be able to order drinks at the bar and understand the waiters.
‘They [Gorka’s family] don’t speak English and my lot don’t speak Spanish, so we’ve said we’ll meet halfway.
‘So that’s all we’ve agreed on, it’s gonna be abroad. And hopefully not this year, but the year after – if I can tolerate him that long obviously.’
Following the conclusion of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, Gemma and Gorka became closer, and soon began dating.
The two revealed their engagement news with fans in February, sharing a romantic picture of the pair at the park to mark Valentine’s Day.
In the snap Gemma cuddles up to Gorka’s neck, resting her left hand – with the engagement ring visible – on his shoulder.
She wrote in the caption: ‘Valentine’s forever… Of course I said yes.’
Gorka later posted the same picture on his Instagram page and added the message: ‘The best day with my forever Valentine’s. I asked and she said YES!!!!!!
‘Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.’
Gemma and Gorka already share one-year-old daughter Mia together.
In 2019 the former Emmerdale star joked she had been dropping hints for Gorka to propose after giving birth to their daughter.
She told Hits Radio: ‘It was quite sad because until then apparently they officially take the mum’s name, but once registered she’s an official Marquez. And I’m the only one now who’s not a Marquez in the family.
‘I said to him, “You do know now we need to get married otherwise I’m not part of the family”. He’s like, “Yeah we have time, it’s OK.”’
