Strictly Come Dancing star Gemma Atkinson, 34, told her one million followers she will be in “no fit state” to do the morning show when she adapts to life as a new mum. The actress and DJ shared a picture of her beaming for the camera while wearing her headphones. She commented: “It’s almost time for me to finish work for my maternity leave and take on my new role as being a mum! I’ll be hanging up my headphones on Friday 7th June, but not for too long as I’ll be returning to @hitsradiouk on a brand new drivetime show with the wonderful @wesbutters.
“I figured being woken up by a baby throughout the night will leave me in no fit state to wake you guys up at breakfast,” she added.
“So instead, I’ll be getting you all home from work weekdays with Wes 4pm – 7pm.
“Very much looking forward to our new show with lots of fun stuff to chat to you all about!
“In the meantime, it’s mum time. (Wish me luck on nappy duty and sleepless nights).”
Many of the star’s followers flocked to her page to comment, including her boyfriend Gorka.
He commented: “So proud of you’mmm.”(sic)
Strictly professional Karen Clifton also wrote: “You’re the best.”
Another fan penned: “Fantastic! Hope you’re keeping well and good luck xxx.”
Around the time Gemma is due, Gorka will be performing on the Here Come The Boys tour alongside Aljaž Škorjanec and Giovanni Pernice.
The dancer is currently on the Strictly Come Dancing pro tour with his fellow professionals, spending time away from Gemma.
But, she took to Instagram yesterday to reveal the pair will reunite imminently when the tour comes to the north.
The blonde beauty shared a picture of her and Gorka locking lips to express her excitement for his return.
She commented: “Strictly tours up north this week so he gets to come home.”
Gemma announced her pregnancy back in February, referring to her dogs Ollie and Norman as “big brothers”.
A sign placed around one of the dog’s necks also read: “Guess what… mum’s pregnant.”
Gemma and Gorka got together after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017. They confirmed their relationship in a loved-up post the following Valentine’s Day.
