Gemma Atkinson, 34, and her boyfriend Gorka Marquez, 28, became parents to their first baby Mia earlier this month. Previously, Gemma Atkinson opened up on the “traumatic” birth, explaining how Mia had been delivered via an emergency C-section. The former Emmerdale actress suffered a huge haemorrhage just hours after her daughter was delivered, however, causing her to lose a lot of blood. Today, Gemma ventured out for the first time with the newborn, uploading a sweet snap on Instagram.
“First official walk done!” she told her 1.1 million followers.
“We only did 10 mins and the pram had to be pushed by Nana and Granddad for most of it as my scar started to ache a little,” she explained.
Gemma went on to joke about her difficulty getting the pram into the car, saying: “It took 15 mins and a watch of a YouTube video to get it in the car.
“It felt nice to get out though in the fresh air,” she continued. “Mia slept the whole time so clearly she wasn’t as excited as me, but little milestones make such a difference to me being a first time mum.”
Gemma also said she was looking forward to getting back to full strength and walking her pet pooches with her new daughter.
“Can’t wait to get stronger and take Norm and Ollie out with us too,” she said, adding: “We missed you Papa @gorka_marquez.”
Gorka was absent from his daughter’s first “official” outing as he attended the first rehearsals for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The picture showed Gemma posing with her baby daughter in a pram, a parasol keeping the tot shaded from the sun.
The star was dressed in stretch maternity jeans, a loose-fitting black T-shirt and a baseball cap.
Gemma also shared glimpses at the adventure on her Instagram story, filming herself in the car with Mia safely snoozing in her car set.
“We’ve done it,” she said, looking delighted. “10 minutes. We managed.”
Last week, Gemma Atkinson opened up on her baby daughter’s health after revealing she had been just 4lbs 10oz when she was born.
She told fans Mia had begun “cluster feeding”, saying: “Basically she wants a lot of feeds over a short time.
“This is apparently common in breastfeeding and for Mia it’s a good thing because she’s piling on the weight which makes me happy.”
Gemma and Gorka first met on Strictly back in 2017.
They went public with their relationship on Valentine’s Day 2018 and announced they were expecting their first baby earlier this year.
