When is Gavin & Stacey returning?

The one-off Christmas special will air on Christmas Day 2019, nearly ten years after it left our screens.

Unfortunately for eager fans, the episode will only be an hour long.

James Corden, who creates the show with Ruth Jones, was the one to reveal the secret after tweeting a sneak picture of the film script for the 2019 episode.

The pair said in a statement:“Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like.

Gavin & Stacey ran for three series on the BBC from 2007-2010.

Where is Ruth Jones now?

Welsh writer and actress Ruth Jones has continued to write TV shows including Stella.

Like Gavin & Stacey, the show was a comedy based in the Welsh valleys, where Ruth starred as a 40-something mum juggling the trials and tribulations of family life amid the chaos of her eccentric friends, relatives and children’s fathers.

In 2018 she returned to the stage after a twelve-year absence in a new play The Nightingales by William Gaminara. The play is produced by Jenny Topper and Bath Theatre Royal.

Ruth released her first novel Never Greener on April 5, 2018.

The plot of book is described as: “The past has a habit of tracking us down. And tripping us up. When Kate was twenty-two, she had an intense and passionate affair with a married man, Callum, which ended in heartbreak. Kate thought she’d never get over it.

“Seventeen years later, life has moved on – Kate, now a successful actress, is living in London, married to Matt and mother to little Tallulah. Meanwhile Callum and his wife Belinda are happy together, living in Edinburgh and watching their kids grow up.

“The past, it would seem, is well and truly behind them all. But then Kate meets Callum again. And they are faced with a choice: to walk away from each other or to risk finding out what might have been. Second chances are a rare gift in life. But that doesn’t mean they should always be taken…”
