Gavin and Stacey's Matthew Horne says he'll star in series 4 of show


Gavin and Stacey‘s Mathew Horne has addressed the rumours of a possible fourth series at Tuesday night’s National Television Awards.

Following the overwhelming success of the Christmas special, which saw 18million viewers tune in, the actor, who portrays Gavin on the show, admitted he loves playing the part.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, the 41-year-old explained he hopes a fourth series is given the green light, but ultimately, it’s down to the script writes Ruth Jones and James Corden.

Discussing reprising his role for the one-off festive special, he said: “It’s been an absolute whirlwind.”

“Right from when we found out we were doing it again, I mean, I found out nearly a year ago now.

“The whole year has been amazing.

“The number of people that watched the show – it’s been extraordinary,” he added.

When asked if they’ll be a possibility of another series, he explained: “I don’t know. I don’t write it.

“I’d love for there to be more Gavin and Stacey, I love playing that character and I love being with everyone.

“I would love to do it.”

The ending of the show saw Nessa propose to Smithy – but the credits rolled before viewers had a chance to see if the father of her child said yes to her hand in marriage.

Many fans felt upset about the way the episode finished, and Mathew admitted people were “angry” with the decision.

“There was some anger about the cliffhanger, it was a good way to leave it I think,” he concluded.
