Gavin and Stacey cast tease show will return after Nessa and Smithy cliffhanger


Gavin and Stacey fans have been left “certain” that a new series or at least another special episode will be returning to our screens.

The Christmas special aired tonight and ended on a serious cliffhanger, Nessa proposing to Smithy and now the cast have spoken out.

Ten years ago the last episode aired and their on-off romance has always played at fans heartstrings after they slept together in the first-ever episode and Nessa fell pregnant following the one nightstand.

In the last few minutes of the Christmas special, Nessa couldn’t hold in her feelings towards Smithy anymore and she got down on one knee and proposed, before the credits then rolled.

With fans dying to know if Smithy said yes, they rushed to Twitter to share their certainty for a new series.

One wrote: “I’m certain there will be more after that cliffhanger.”

A second said: “I need to know if Smithy said yes there has to be more.”

Another tweeted: “There will defo be more episodes or a special episode after that.”

Mat Horne, who plays Gavin, said: “Now you’ve all seen the ending, they can’t leave it like that.

“Whether it will be back next year, whether it will be in another 10 years, I don’t know.”

After it was such a hit, fans and the cast have said they want more

Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, added: “We’d all be happy to do it.”

The bookies have said there are “high stakes” that another series will be filmed within the next 12 months, according to Ladbrookes.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The Gavin and Stacey gang have delivered once again and we wouldn’t be surprised if plans are already in place for another series, with a Smithy and Nessa wedding on the cards.”
