Gatwick Airport: Flights delayed due to bad weather in London – is your route affected?

Gatwick Airport has warned passengers of delays to both inbound and outbound flights this afternoon. The inconvenience is down to poor weather conditions in London, with sporadic rainfall through the day. The UK transport hub re-Tweeted a message from BBC Sussex which warned passengers of the disruption. It stated: “TRAVEL: Delays to some flights to / from @Gatwick_Airport due to earlier poor weather conditions.

“Passengers should check the status of their flight before travelling.”

The airport then responded to passengers at the transport terminal, who had complained of delays.

One wrote: “Hi, currently at the airport waiting for a flight and most flights seem to be delayed. Is there a problem?

The airport replied three hours ago, perhaps when the reason for the delays had not become clear, and wrote: “Hi Sarah, sorry to hear you’re delayed.

“No problems have been reported to us so perhaps there maybe some slight delays due to weather.

“Hope you’re soon on your way-EW.”

A traveller sarcastically replied to the weather disruption: “In a country where it rains everyday.”

Another then mused: “I heard you have a radar problem?”

One then demanded an answer from the airport themselves, and put: “Why isn’t this coming from your account rather than a retweet?”

Information on Gatwick’s website stated routes to Malaga, Jersey, New York and Edinburgh were all delayed in departing.

The most significant delay was on an easyJet route to Lisbon, which was delayed for two hours and one minute.

It is now due to depart at 7.16pm.

It appears both the north and south terminals have been impacted.

Today’s weather has seen light rain showers throughout the day in and around the UK capital.

These are expected to continue throughout the weekend, in a glum forecast.
