Gary Neville urges Man Utd and Arsenal to sign £40m midfielder

Gary Neville says Youri Tielemans should be at the very top of Arsenal and Manchester United’s summer shopping lists.

The Belgian midfielder has shone on loan at Leicester City this season.

The 21-year-old was again outstanding against the Gunners as he inspired a 3-0 win and Monaco will listed to offers after the season comes to an end.

Leicester had hoped to keep him full time but such is his high level of performance they may lose out.

Neville clearly thinks Arsenal and Manchester United should make him theirs – and that Tottenham should be tempted as well.

“With Tielemans, I think the issue that Leicester will have is that there are midfields in the top six that need strengthening,” Neville said, which will make tough listening for Foxes fans.

Now a price war could begin for the on-loan star

“He is 21-years-old, available they say for £40m. He’s proved himself in the Premier League, almost like a dress rehearsal at Leicester.

“Leicester could struggle to keep him because of the fact that other clubs may want him.”

City boss Brendan Rodgers could be fighting a losing battle to keep him.

Asked if Leicester will sign Tielemans permanently, he said: “I’m not sure.

“I think there will be dialogue between both clubs. He’s clearly a player we would like to work with but I can’t really add much more to that.

It’s thumbs up for Tielemans

Neville says it’s time to make a move

“I can understand the supporters will like to watch a young player like that and I’m sure the club will do everything they possibly can to bring him in.”

He added: “What he’s paid to do is create and score and he’s doing it very well.

“It was a wonderful cross from James [Maddison] and it’s important you have players that are hungry to score and it was a great strike as well in a game that was very, very close.

“He’s shown great efficiency since he’s been here and for his age he’s got great maturity in his game and I’m very pleased for him.
