'Game of Thrones' star Sophie Turner says she didn't mind Kit Harington earning three times more than her

“You know what… you keep that money”

Sophie Turner has explained why it doesn’t bother her that her co-star Kit Harington earned more money than her in previous Game of Thrones series.

Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the hit TV fantasy saga, is reported to have taken home £158,000 per week. Harington, who portrays Jon Snow, is said to have received £537,000.

The 23-year-old actress told Harper’s Bazaar why the discrepancy is acceptable.

“Kit got more money than me, but he had a bigger storyline,” she said. “And for the last series he had something crazy like 70 night shoots, and I didn’t have that many.

“I was like, ‘You know what… you keep that money’”.

During the last season – series 7 – which aired in 2017, it was reported that Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, and Lena Headey were all estimated to receive $500,000 (£391,000) per episode of the HBO show.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones author George RR Martin has teased that his final novels could lift “a lot” from the hit TV adaptation.

With the huge HBO show’s final season due to start airing on April 14, Martin has yet to complete the final two books of its original source material. Because it has taken the writer an extended amount of time to pen the novels, the show has headed in different directions to reach its own conclusion.

Martin has now suggested that the final releases have been influenced by the small screen version.

“I’ve been so slow with these books,” he told Rolling Stone. “The major points of the ending will be things I told them five or six years ago.”

Teasing the upcoming novels, he added: “But there may also be changes, and there’ll be a lot added.”
