Game of Thrones star Kit Harington donates $10,000 to fan-fundraiser for Mencap

He may have had enough of his own problems to deal with lately, but Kit Harington refuses to just focus on himself.

The Game of Thrones star spent most of May locked away in rehab when he was ‘treated for stress and alcohol’.

He checked into the private Connecticut health retreat Privé-Swiss, where he is allowed to come and go, and appears to be very much on the mend.

But the actor isn’t just focused on getting himself better.

Harington has stunned his fans by donating around $10,000 to an online fundraiser.

He had pledged to a JustGiving drive set up to raise funds for Mencap, which is supports people with learning disabilities.

Kit put forward nearly £8,000 with the simple message: “With love and respect from beyond the wall.”

The star has taken time out to dig deep

Kit is famous for playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones

He later went on to say: “To those of you who set this page up in my name and to those of you who contributed and left messages, please accept my deepest and most heartfelt thank you.

“This donations page lifted my heart and brought tears to my eyes, what a beautiful gift to receive….how generous of all of you.

Kit was feeling very generous

“Mencap is truly a wonderful charity and the money given here will go to the most incredible cause.”

The organisers were quick to pay tribute to the 32-year-old Londoner.

“Kit Harington has given so much to the fans of Game of Thrones over the past decade playing the King in the North, Jon Snow,” they wrote.

“He absolutely nailed his performance and we loved every second of screen-time we had with him.

His donation went down very well

“This fundraiser is here to show Kit that we’re incredibly thankful to him for the sheer amount of love and skill he put into Jon Snow for us to enjoy.”

The donation was small fry to what it cost to sort himself out last month.

The Privé-Swiss facility sets stars back more than $120,000 a month and teaches its clients how to deal with stress and negative emotions.
