Is Jon Snow – or Targaryen – the promised king to defeat the Night King?

Especially because we know the episode has been directed by the incredible Miguel Sapochnik.
Miguel basically blew our minds with Battle of the Bastards and Winds of Winter in season 6, as well as the Hardhome brawl in season 5.
So it’s safe to say expectations have been pretty high!
And writer Bryan Cogman has admitted Miguel and the rest of the gang had a pretty big job to do.
“What we asked the production team and crew to do this year truly has never been done in television or in a movie,” he explained.
“This final face-off between the army of the dead and the army of the living is completely unprecedented and relentless and a mixture of genres even within the battle.”
Read on for every plot twist, fan theory and shock death explained as the ridiculously creepy White Walkers attack the Northern stronghold.
Winter really is here!
