Game of Thrones season 8: Did Arya Stark star Maisie Williams confirm a devastating death?

Game of Thrones fans are desperate to know what will happen to all of the characters in the HBO fantasy – but people often forget about the Direwolves.

Way back in season one, Robb Stark (played by Richard Madden) tracks down some little puppies and his dad, Ned Stark (Sean Bean) allows each of the Stark children, and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) to adopt one.

As a result, each of the kids becomes attached to their animal and many have come to assume if the Direwolf dies, so does the character.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, appeared on Lorraine earlier today and may have accidentally let slip another of the pups will perish.

She was quizzed by Christine Lampard about her Game of Thrones knowledge but it seems she perhaps forgot a few things over the course of the process.

The presenter asked: “How many Direwolves are still alive?”

Maisie thought for a second before answering: “Just the – No! There’s two alive.”

Of course, two is the correct answer, but did she suggest one could die in season eight?

Maisie has fully wrapped on the final ever episodes and as a result knows what will happen to the characters.

Perhaps one has died and that’s why she went to say there’s only the single Direwolf alive.

Fans thankfully won’t have long to find out as the new season will air in the UK from Monday.

But in the meantime, what did happen to all of the Direwolves?

At the beginning, the six Direwolves were as follows: Ghost, Grey Wind, Lady, Nymeria, Shaggydog and Summer.

Summer – Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) – was brutally murdered by White Walkers in season six.

Shaggydog, who belonged to Rickon Stark (Art Parkinson), was killed as a present for Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) while Robb’s Grey Wind was beheaded at the Red Wedding.

Sansa Stark’s (Sophie Turner) Lady was the first to die after Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) demanded for it to be killed.

That leaves Arya’s Nymeria and Jon’s Ghost still alive as fans go into the Game of Thrones finale.

Should one of them perish, does that also seal Arya or Jon’s death?

Meanwhile, Brienne of Tarth star Gwendoline Christie may have revealed her character’s final moment.

Game of Thrones season eight premieres on April 14 on HBO and Sky Atlantic and on NOW TV on April 15.
