Game of Thrones recap: Will Robin Arryn return? What happened to him?


Fans of Game of Thrones were finally given a proper glimpse of season eight with HBO dropping the highly-anticipated official trailer this month (March 5). The two minute and two-second promo provided a wealth of hints about what’s in store and brand new content to analyse. But what happened to Robin Arryn (played by Lino Facioli) in recent seasons? Here’s a recap.

What happened to Robin Arryn in Game of Thrones?

Lord Robin Arryn (sometimes called Sweetrobin) is the only surviving child and heir of Lord Jon Arryn by his wife, Lysa (Kate Dickie) of House Tully (John Standing) – both of whom have passed.

Robin is the Lord of the Eyrie, the head of House Arryn, the Warden of the East and Lord Paramount of the Vale of Arryn.

Fans will remember Robin from season one when Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) visits the Eyrie with the captive Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 TRAILER EXPLAINED

The site of Robin, who must’ve been around six years old, breastfeeding from his mother amid hysterical fits was quite shocking.

The death of his father Jon Arryn is what ostensibly kicked off the action of the entire series, as he was serving as Hand of the King to Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy).

The War of the Five Kings is what occurred after Sean Bean’s character Ned Stark was betrayed and beheaded when he became the Hand and threatened to reveal that Cersei Lannister’s (Lena Heady) children were conceived through incest and therefore were not the rightful heirs to the Iron Throne.

After season one, Robin wasn’t seen again until season four when his new stepfather, Petyr Baelish aka Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) and his cousin Sansa (Sophie Turner) visit the Eyrie.

IS VISERION AN ICE DRAGON?

A memorable moment from this season is Sansa slapping Robin when he becomes increasing petulant over building a castle made from snow.

Little finger later kills his new wife Lysa by using her out the Moon Door -making Robin Lord of the Vale and Littlefinger urges Lord Yohn Royce (Rupert Vansittart) and Lady Anya Waynwood (Paola Dionisotti) to back him against the Lannisters.

Robin makes a brief appearance in season six when he is seen taking sparring lessons, which prove difficult due to his frail condition and sheltered childhood.

He is left to be forested at Runestone under Royce’s tutelage.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8, EPISODE 1 RELEASE DATE 

The last time Robin was seen was in season six at Rhinestone where is practising archery and excited to see Littlefinger.

He offers to send Lord Yohn flying for treason when Petyr casts aspersions on Yohn’s loyalty but allows him leniency upon Petyr’s recommendation.

Robin agrees to send the forces often Vale north to protect his cousin Sansa from Hosue Bolton.

He is not present ins earn seven but is represented at Winterfell by Lord Yohn at Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) meeting regarding plans against the White Walkers’ impending invasion.

Fans will have to wait and see if Robin makes an appearance in season eight next month.
