Game of Thrones: Melisandre to return in prequel twist after HUGE clue?

A Game of Thrones prequel set thousands of years before the HBO series has already been announced based on different characters.

However, one character that could appear in the prequel is the Red Queen Melisandre (played by Carice van Houten).

The mysterious character wears a ruby choker that kept her youthful looks and there is no telling how long she has been alive.

In the Battle of Winterfell, when she takes it off she suddenly ages and died into a heap on the ground.

She has been telling stories from thousands of years past and knows everything about the Prince That Was Promised, who in the books was the reincarnation of Azor Ahai.

He lived thousands of years ago and could very well be where the prequel takes place if the synopsis is to be interpreted.

It reads: “Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

“And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”

Could the Prince That Was Promised prophecy be explored in the prequel in the “Golden Age of Heroes”?

The Azor Ahai was the hero who brought down the dark in scenes that were mirrored the Battle of Winterfell.

The prequel series is being written by George R.R. Martin and is without an official name.

The rest of the details are also very unclear about the prequel series.

A source has previously told The Sun: “Thrones fans will be delighted to hear things have started with the prequel.

“Those working on the set in Belfast are referring to the series as Bloodmoon.

“Producers have put together a stellar cast, and it will be must-watch telly for anyone who loves Game Of Thrones.”

There had been reports that only a pilot of the prequel series would be released in order to see whether viewers like it or not.

HBO boss Bob Greenblatt hinted that he “didn’t know” what would happen to the spinoff.

He revealed: “There’s a prequel in production, but just a pilot so that we can see if it has all the goods and is it worthy of going forward.”

Meanwhile, fans have loved Varys star Conleth Hill’s reaction to his death that was aired on Sunday’s HBO documentary.

Game of Thrones is available on Sky Atlantic and NowTV.
