'Game Of Thrones'' Maisie Williams says her final scene "felt like the right time to say goodbye to Arya"

The final season of the hit fantasy series will arrive later this month

Maisie Williams has reflected on shooting her final scene for Game Of Thrones ahead of the show’s eighth and last season.

The actor plays Arya Stark in the hit series – a role she’s held since the show debuted back in 2011.

Speaking to S Magazine, she said: “This whole season was really, really emotional. When I came to shoot my final scene, I had already watched a lot of people wrap and seen all the tears and heard all the speeches.”

Of her last ever Game Of Thrones appearance, she added: “It was just a really beautiful day and a really great final scene for me. It felt like the right time to say goodbye to Arya.”

Game Of Thrones is set to return on April 15 in the UK and will be shown on Sky Atlantic and Now TV.

Last year, Williams marked filming her last scenes by sharing a photo of blood-stained white trainers on her Instagram page. “goodbye Belfast. Goodbye arya. Goodbye game of thrones,” she wrote in the caption. “what a joy I’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come.”

Meanwhile, Sophie Turner, who plays Williams’ onscreen sister Sansa, recently revealed how she felt about co-star Kit Harington making more money than her. Turner is reported to have been paid £158,000 a week while Harington was said to be on £537,000.

“Kit got more money than me, but he had a bigger storyline,” she explained of the discrepancy. “And for the last series he had something crazy like 70 night shoots, and I didn’t have that many. I was like, ‘You know what… you keep that money.’”
