Warning: Contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones.

The return of Game Of Thrones is building up towards a battle at Winterfell against the White Walker army, and it seems the allied forces at the Stark homestead may have a secret trick up their sleeve.

As spotted by Redditor CleverD3vil in the first episode of season eight, workers on the walls of Winterfell can be seen crushing dragonglass into some kind of paste – which could be used to reinforce weapons, shields and the walls themselves from the Night King’s undead posse.

Dragonglass is the substance used to kill White Walkers, hence why blacksmith Gendry is rapidly crafting weapons using the material for The Hound and Arya.

[Spoilers] Found this in Episode one… Looks like it’s going to be a great fight. from gameofthrones

But will dragonglass paste prove a deterrent from White Walkers breaching the walls? Or could The Night King’s pet Viserion simply burn it off with flames?

It’s set to be a tense confrontation considering Jaime killed Daenerys’ father. He’s also set to face Bran after pushing him out of a tower in the first season to keep his romance with Cersei on the lowdown.

The next episode will also see how Jon Snow deals with the truth of his parentage, and exactly what weapon Arya wants cooking up from Gendry.

Game Of Thrones continues on HBO and Sky Atlantic next Sunday. Seasons one to seven are available to stream on NOW TV.
