'Game of Thrones' fan enhances dragon battle scene amid complaints that episode was "too dark"

A Game of Thrones fan has uploaded an edited and enhanced version of a crucial scene from this week’s episode, following complaints that the original was “too dark”.

Many viewers aired their frustrations earlier this week after tuning in for ‘The Long Night’, the third instalment of the show’s final season. The episode featured the Battle of Winterfell as its centrepiece, which was reportedly one of the longest and most expensive battle scenes to ever be depicted in either TV or film.

With a chunk of the latest chapter set after dark, fans complained that they were unable to follow the action unfolding on screen. The episode’s director of photography later hit back by claiming that viewers “don’t know how to tune their TVs properly“.

Now, one fan has taken matters into their own hands. Putting their video editing skills to good use, the Reddit member has shared a brighter, slowed-down version of the dragon scene.

Within the post’s 1.8k comments, Thrones fans have praised the clip. “Lots of details are unnoticed because of the darkness of the episode, thank you for this,” said one viewer. Another added: “Thanks for sharing this. Why do they go to so much effort with the animation to then make it almost unwatchable?”

A third user also suggested that the same editing process should be applied to the entire episode. Check out the video here.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke recently attempted to trick fans into believing she was Kit Harington’s character Jon Snow as she launched a new competition to tie in with the show’s final season.
