Gallagher appoints new Scottish managing director



Insurance broker Gallagher has appointed Elliot Miller as regional managing director, based in the firm’s Glasgow office.

In the new role, he is responsible for leading more than 200 colleagues across offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, as well as home workers looking after clients across Scotland, with additional responsibility for Northern Ireland and the North East of England.

Each office looks after the risk management and insurance needs for portfolio of businesses, ranging from large corporate organisations through to SMEs.

Miller will report into Peter Matthews, managing director of the North.

With more than 35 years’ insurance experience, he joins Gallagher from insurer CNA Hardy, where he held the position of head of UK regions for four years.

Prior to this, Miller was general manager for the UK and Ireland at QBE Insurance Group.

He said: “Having worked for insurers for many years, I am delighted to be embarking on a new chapter and moving to the broking side of the industry.

“After working in London for many years, I am delighted to be returning to my roots and joining an insurance broker which has such a well-established presence in Scotland – as well as taking the helm of our Northern Ireland and North East of England teams.”

Matthews added: “As we continue to invest in our regional presence, this senior appointment further demonstrates our commitment to bringing the highest calibre talent on board in order to provide our clients in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England with unrivalled expertise.”
