Gal Gadot takes over as the new face of Smartwater as the brand ends its 12-year contract with Jennifer Aniston

Actress Gal Gadot is ringing in the new decade with a brand new business venture.

The Wonder Woman star, 34, announced in an Instagram post on Wednesday that she would be taking over for Jennifer Aniston, 50, as the new face of Glaceau Smartwater.

‘So proud to announce my new partnership with @smartwater, a brand that is rooted in innovation both inside & outside the plant based and 100% recyclable bottle!’ she wrote in the caption.

‘Smartwater has personally been a part of my life for many years and I’m excited to be a part of the team!’

For the Israeli native, positioning herself to advocate for sustainability and environmentally friendly business practices was at the center of her decision to partner with the brand.

‘Obviously, the world is dealing with a big packaging waste problem,’ the mom of two told People in an interview Friday. 

‘Before I partnered with Smartwater, I spoke to heads of the company and I was very relieved…to find out that the company, and the Coca-Cola company as well, has invested billions of dollars into sustainability, including collecting and recycling a bottle for each bottle that’s being sold.’

‘I love the fact that they want to do business right and they don’t just talk the talk,’ the actress continued. ‘They walk the walk.’ 

As for Aniston, who had served as brand ambassador to the company since 2007, passing the torch to Gadot shouldn’t be too painful. 

Along with maintaining her lucrative partnerships with other brands such as skincare line Aveeno and pharmaceutical company Shire, the Friends favorite is racking up $2 million an episode for her role on Apple TV’s The Morning Show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s one of the highest negotiated salaries in television.

The comedy series, which stars Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, looks at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, and explores challenges faced by the men and women who carry out this daily televised ritual, according to IMDB.

All 10 episodes of the first season of The Morning Show are available to stream on Apple TV, with the second season expected to premiere in November 2020.
