G2 Esports powers up with Seasonic partnership

Berlin-based organisation G2 Esports has announced a partnership with Taiwanese power supply manufacturer Seasonic.

As a result of the partnership, which officially begins in 2021, G2 Esports’ teams will use Seasonic brand power supplies on their PCs. This appears to be Seasonic’s first esports partnership to date.

Length and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, G2 has said that both companies will work together ‘with a shared vision to be the best with technology, quality and performance’.

Carlos Rodriguez, CEO of G2 Esports, shared his excitement in an official blog post: “Everyone at G2 puts their heart into their work. Players. Creators. Content. Finance. Every single person. Having an incredible partner like Seasonic to power our hearts and our players, creators and staff is exciting. It’s a fantastic end to the year for us. They are leaders and we can’t wait to show that as we work together in 2021. Welcome!”

Seasonic has been in business for over 40 years and entered the gaming market early on as one of the first manufacturers of PC power supplies. In 2005, the company became the first to achieve an 80 Plus Certification, which means Seasonic power supplies cut energy consumption by 15 per cent to 25 per cent without costly, time-consuming redesigns of the entire computer.

Seasonic commented briefly on the partnership on its website, saying: “We are honoured that G2 has chosen us to power the systems of their teams and world-class players. For decades, Seasonic has supported gamers by producing top-tier PC power supplies and now joining forces with G2 will propel us both to achieve new heights.”

Esports Insider says: Energy-efficient power supplies are a must-have for competitive PC gaming, especially for a team that practises for hours at a time. G2 has collected an impressive list of performance-based partners such as NVIDIA and AORUS, which is nothing but a good thing.
