Strictly Come Dancing fans have gone into overdrive after the shocking elimination of Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell – claiming they weren’t able to call in and vote for them.

The pair were given the axe on Sunday’s elimination show after falling into the dance-off with their Cha Cha to Dancing With a Stranger by Sam Smith against Viscountess Emma Weymouth and Aljaz Skorjanec, who were jiving to Kids in America by Kim Wilde.

Unanimously voted off by the judges, pro dancer Dianne was seen breaking down in tears during their last dance, as Dev clung on to her.

As a result, they are crying fix and want to know answers

After a week of scoring by the judges that left viewers baffled, some viewers have claimed that the phone lines were down and they struggled to ring in and save the pair.

However, Metro.co.uk has been told by sources that at no point were the phones out of service, despite the high call volumes.

The online voting system, which is free, has not been reported to have any issues.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Strictly Come Dancing for comment.

Viewers have even threatened to boycott the shot as Dev and Dianne said goodbye to their time on the series too soon.

Radio DJ Dev couldn’t hide his frustration at the controversial decision and told Tess Daly: ‘I’m not going to lie I am absolutely gutted.

He then added: ‘But learning how to dance, hanging out with Dianne and the other pros and celebs… I’ve absolutely loved it.’

Dianne, who made last year’s finals with Joe Sugg, said: ‘Dev has been absolutely amazing. His work ethic is insane. I see him everywhere practising and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner.

‘Thank you so much for all your time and your effort. This boy has so much talent, I’m really sad he won’t be able to show you guys any more of it.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
