furious pub landlord yelled “get out of my pub” to Sir Keir Starmer during a row over lockdown restrictions on a visit to Bath today.

Rod Humphris was filmed shouting at the Labour Party leader and declaring “that man is not allowed in my pub” while apparently being restrained by security.

Sir Keir was forced to leave The Raven pub following the row with Mr Humphris, who told reporters that he did not agree with coronavirus lockdowns.

In one video, filmed by a local democracy reporter, the landlord can be heard shouting: “That man is not allowed in my pub. Get out of my pub! Go on! Get out of my pub!”

In another clip, he can be seen confronting the Labour leader in the street, telling him he felt “incandescent” about the job he had done and saying: “You failed me!”

He went on: “I have been a Labour voted my entire life. You have failed to be the opposition…you have failed this country.”

Sir Keir can be heard talking about his wife, who works for a central London hospital which he said had been “overwhelmed” with cases, adding: “I really don’t need lectures from you about this pandemic. Thank you.”

Mr Humphris later told PA news agency that Sir Keir had failed to hold the Government to account over coronavirus restrictions, and instead had just “accepted” lockdown and the “loss” of freedoms.

The 54-year-old, who said he does not agree with lockdowns, added: “He walked into my pub without asking and I threw him out.

“Or at least, I did my best to throw him out – his security got in the way.”

However, Tim Perry who runs the pub with Mr Humphris, told reporters that his colleague’s views did not reflect the businesses’.

In a clip, shared by reporter Stephen Sumner, Mr Perry says: “We’re getting death by social media when actually Rod’s the one that held those opinions not me.”

Sir Keir later told journalists the vast majority of people recognise the lockdown was necessary and that we need to come “slowly and carefully” out of it so we never go back into another one.

“He [the landlord] took the opposite view that we shouldn’t have restrictions. I profoundly disagree,” Sir Keir added.

The Labour leader was visiting the city to support West of England metro mayoral candidate Dan Norris ahead of the May 6 elections.

The Labour Party press office tweeted: “A clip circulating online shows Keir Starmer being confronted by someone spreading dangerous misinformation about the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We will not be amplifying it.

“Keir argued that our NHS staff have been working tirelessly to protect public health and that restrictions – while painful – have been absolutely necessary to save lives.”
