Furious mum slams her son’s school for returning the ‘healthy’ sausage rolls she packed for his lunch

A MUM has taken to Facebook to vent her frustration over a note she received from her son’s school.

Having packed her son a lunch of “healthy” sausage rolls, the mum was furious when the school not only banned her child from eating them, but also sent a note asking her not to pack them again.

The mum, from Australia, took to the Mums Who Cook & Bake Facebook group to explain she had made veggie sausage rolls along with fruits, vegetables, cheese and protein balls.

But she was stunned when her son’s school returned them along with a “condescending not” explaining they were “too high in fat” for a packed lunch.

“Let’s work together to make it easier for children to make healthy choices!” The note read.

“There were lots of great choices in this lunchbox however sausage rolls [are] too high in fat (Please provide nutrient value if they are homemade).

“The food did not fit with our service’s nutrition guidelines.

“For some healthier lunchbox ideas, ask an educator, or go to the Good for Kids website.”

The mum explained she had a feeling they might return the rolls, so packed her son some extra foods just in case.

“In my opinion, these sausage rolls are pretty healthy for him I will be sending the information back to the school,” she explained.

“They do not allow the food item to be eaten once they attach the note. I had a feeling this would happen so I packed extra for him.”

Fellow mums agreed that the teachers “were not nutritionists”.

“Preschool teachers are not nutritionists,” wrote one mum.

“I’d be furious. How dare they?”
