Furious Dominic Grieve attacks 'scandalous' Boris Johnson in general election rant

Dominic Grieve has been the MP for Beaconsfield since 1997. However, he will run as an independent rather than a Conservative for the first time in the upcoming December general election. Mr Grieve was asked how signficant he thought the group of independent MPs will be in the upcoming general election during an interview on Sky News.

Dominic Grieve said: “I have no idea what influence we may have on this campaign.

“All I can do is go out to my electorate and say these are my beliefs.

“I’m a Conservative obviously.

“I think the direction which the party is going in is wrong.”

He continued: “I think the Prime Minister’s leadership as exhibited over the last two months has been horrific.

“A prorogation, he’s a scandal.

“It says something very profound and worrying about this Prime Minister’s standards.

“So that does trouble me and I think they should think long and hard about the future of the country not just for themselves but for our children and grandchildren in some cases.”

“As it probably did my colleagues that were also not offered a route back.

“It has been quite clear that the Prime Minster doesn’t want us back in the party.”

Amber Rudd has announced she will not stand as a candidate in the upcoming general election, bringing an end to her time as MP.

Amber Rudd surrendered the Conservative whip in Parliament last month in protest at Boris Johnson’s Brexit policy.
