FromSoftware working on new game with George R. R. Martin claim rumours

George R. R. Martin – FromSoftware’s new writer?

The makers of Dark Souls and Sekiro are allegedly teaming up with the creator of Game of Thrones to make a new open world adventure.

There's no doubting this is about ZeldaXenoblade Chronicles developer making new Legend Of Zelda game

Now that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is out, and enjoying the same enthusiastic response as most other FromSoftware games, some fans are already beginning to wonder what they’re working on next – and the answer could be an unexpected celebrity team-up.

Various commentators, such as DidYouKnowGaming’s Liam Robertson and YouTuber Spawn Wave, claim that From are currently working on two new titles and that one of them has A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R. R. Martin as the lead writer.

This seems surprising on many levels, including the fact that while a keen tabletop role-playing fan Martin is not known to be much of a gamer – having forsworn them in the ‘80s for fear of becoming addicted.

Martin’s involvement with From is a rumour that’s been doing the rounds in game journo circles now for several weeks, and while it’s never been clear what the source is we first heard about it in early March.

At that point there was no indication of what the game itself would be like, other than it would be published by Bandai Namco – which means it could be part of the Dark Souls franchise.

However, the gameplay is now described as taking part in a fully open world with several kingdoms that you can visit in any order, which sounds very much like Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.

It’s suggested that the game may be announced at E3, so if they can get Martin on stage to promote it that would be quite the coup.

That’s assuming any of this is true though. From are thought to be working on two new games at the moment but when we’ll hear about either of them officially is a mystery.
