WARWICK CASTLE: Skaters can practise their moves in front of the spectacular East Front of the medieval castle.

THE NORTH POLE, CAMBRIDGE: Nestled among the trees in Parker’s Piece park, the rink is free and the clear-span roof offers skaters a magical experience – without having to worry about the weather.

EDEN PROJECT, CORNWALL: It’s the only place in Cornwall where you can skate indoors.

And don’t forget to pop into the Eden camp to meet Father Christmas. Open until February 23. Tickets from £7pp.

HAMPTON COURT PALACE, SURREY: Once the home of Henry VIII, it’s a magical destination to get on the ice.

Day or evening sessions can be combined with a visit to the Tudor palace. Until Jan 5. Tickets from £15pp.

THE ICE FACTOR, YORK: The North of England’s largest outdoor rink is at the heart of Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland – surrounded by an illuminated forest of Christmas trees and log cabins.

After your skating session, you can enjoy hot drinks in a heated alpine-themed chalet, styled with cosy furs and rustic wooden furniture. Open until Jan 5, Tickets from £11.50pp.

CARDIFF WINTER WONDERLAND: With a new Alpine Ice Trail, the open-air rink takes centre stage in front of the City Hall and can accommodate 300 skaters at a time – at 250m long the trail is unique in the UK.

The return of the double-storey Sur La Piste bar will help revellers get into the festive spirit. Open till January 5. Tickets from £11pp.

ABERDEEN CHRISTMAS VILLAGE: Skaters can enjoy festive fun against the striking backdrop of Marischal College.

LIVERPOOL ICE FESTIVAL: Set against the backdrop of the city’s iconic waterfront, the Liverpool Ice Festival presents a traditional Christmas market with a huge covered rink.

It also boasts the UK’s largest ice slide, featuring three super-speedy 30-metre runs, an Ice Jet ride and a sound-and light show. Until Jan 5. Tickets from £12pp.
