Shops have launched their festive range of sarnies and lunchtime bites to help perk the nation up – and they are the quirkiest yet.

Containing sausage and bacon, the 2.55g salt content is one of the highest of those sampled.
It also contains 509 calories.

Fa La La! Truffled egg and honey roast ham sandwich, £4:
Decadently packing two half truffled eggs and ham, with 513 calories and the most salt at 2.88g, this is definitely not just any sandwich.
Tesco

Turkey and trimmings sandwich, £2.75:
Turkey . . . check. Stuffing, sausage and cranberry . . . check.
And at 519 calories and 2.2g salt, it won’t leave you looking as though you have been stuffed.

Pig out on Cumberland sausages, turkey, smoked bacon and chutney as this has the lowest calorie hit we sampled at 505, and 2g salt.

Containing butternut squash, red cabbage and vegan mayo, the 543 calories and 1.9g salt means it is meat-free but not guilt-free.

Weighing in at a mouth-watering 536 calories and with 2.1g of salt, this one is definitely a turkey when it comes to dieting – as it is packed with melted cheese.
