It’s like no one told you life was gonna be this way, your life’s a joke, you’re broke – and now you can’t even watch Friends at work.

One woman found this out the hard way after receiving a lawsuit for binge-watching ‘astounding hours’ of the hit sitcom during working hours.

The former employee of actor Robert De Niro’s production company, Canal Productions, is suing for millions of dollars over the incident which also saw the former employee order takeout at the company’s expense and cause general financial mayhem a report said.

According to a report in Variety, a $6 million (£4,928,940) lawsuit was filed against a Chase Robinson who was hired by De Niro as an assistant back in 2008, and moved up the ranks to become the vice-president of production and finance at the production company.

As part of her job post, which she was promoted to in 2017, the lawsuit stated that Robinson was in charge of the oversight of employees’ use of company funds but has been accused of ‘breaching her fiduciary duties, violation of the faithless service doctrine and conversion.’

While she hasn’t commented on the lawsuit, her resignation email reportedly dismissed concerns about her expenditure as ‘ridiculous’.

The lawsuit said that Robinson had been racking up hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of bills for personal items on the company credit card and using the petty cash fund.

The former employee is also accused of allegedly submitting fake documentation in order to be paid for 96 days of ‘unused’ holiday, whilst also jetting off to LA to ‘pick up and deliver signed coffee table books based on De Niro’s film Taxi Driver’ NBC reported.

But out of all the accusations made against Robinson, a claim that the former employee ‘binge-watched astounding hours of TV shows on Netflix’ is probably the most absurd yet slightly understandable.

After all, who doesn’t love a good series.

The lawsuit report stated that ‘over the four-day period between Tuesday, January 8 and Friday, January 11, 2019, 55 episodes of Friends were accessed’.

On top of her Friends binge, the report also stated that Robinson also watched 32 episodes of Friends on a single Saturday – which may not seem that absurd if she wasn’t supposed to be working.

Variety also reported that over a four-day period the former production and finance vice-president binge watched ’20 episodes of Arrested Development and 10 episodes of Schitt’s Creek.’

The suit added: ‘Watching shows on Netflix was not in any way part of or related to the duties and responsibilities of Robinson’s employment and, on information and belief, was done for her personal entertainment, amusement and pleasure at times when she was being paid to work.’
