Friends' David Schwimmer shares cosy hug with 'crush' Jennifer Aniston

It may have taken 17 years for the cast of Friends to get back together on screen, but they’ve certainly been making up for it and delighting fans along the way.

After the HBO Max special aired last month, fans of the sitcom have been treated to an influx of behind-the-scenes snaps from some of the show’s main stars.

And this time it’s David Schwimmer pleasing his millions of social media followers once again after he posted an array of images to his Instagram page on Monday night.

The actor, 54, shared six snaps in total but it was the last one that fans would have been most drawn to.

In it, he’s seen sharing a sweet embrace with Jennifer Aniston after the pair admitted they had “real-life” feelings for each other on the reunion show.

The pair, who played on-screen on-off couple Ross Geller and Rachel Green, are seen giving each other a big hug with David captioning the picture: “After a very long day, last hug of the night.”

On Friends: The Reunion, David revealed that the pair were both “crushing hard on each other” at some point.

“But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary,” he explained.

Jennifer also admitted that during breaks from the first series the pair would “spoon and fall asleep on the couch”.

The pair never did hook up off set however, with Jennifer saying the first time they kissed was in the coffee shop.

She said: “So, we just channeled all of our love and adoration for each other into Ross and Rachel.”

Another heartwarming snap sees the six main characters – David, Jennifer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry – sharing their pre-show ritual hug.

David captioned the image: “Cast huddle right before the live Reunion audience.”

He also posted a pic of the group with the “inspired and crazy talented” reunion director Ben Winston as well as a table read snapshot.

The third picture shows the group on the iconic sofa chatting with the show’s host James Corden.

Fans of Friends were quick to criticise the decision to make the Gavin & Stacey creator the show’s host with many slamming him for “ruining” the eagerly-awaited special.

However, David wrote next to the image that they couldn’t have had a better host for their get together.

David also shared a photo of himself alongside Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc meeting up once more with their first assistant director, Ben Weiss.

The star finished off his post by writing: “Thank you @hbomax for bringing us back together…”
