Friends and Norma Rae actor Ron Leibman dies at age 82

Friends and Norma Rae actor Ron Leibman has died at the age of 82.

The star’s agent confirmed that he sadly died of pneumonia.

‘We at Abrams Artists Agency are saddened to hear the news of Ron’s passing. Ron was an incredibly talented actor with a distinguished career in film, TV and theatre,’ his agent Robert Attermann said in a statement.

‘Our thoughts go out to his wife, Jessica (Walter), and his family.’

Ron was known for his role as Dr Leonard Green, Rachel’s father, in beloved sitcom Friends, and won a Tony Award for his role as Roy Cohn in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches.

He also appeared in films like Slaughterhouse-Five, Where’s Poppa?, and Norma Rae, starring alongside Sally Field.

Over his career, he appeared in TV series such as The Sopranos, Law & Order, and Kaz, and most recently lent his voice to TV series Archer as Ron Cadillac.

Tributes have been pouring in from friends and fans of the star, with one saying: ‘20+ years ago, I cast my friend Ron Liebman on a sitcom that was shooting in LA when he and his wife Jessica were in the process of moving from LA to NY.

‘I said was sorry for upending his life. He said, “Never apologize for being a good friend bearing good paying work.” RIP pal.’

‘Ron Liebman’s performance as “Roy Cohen” in the original B’way production of “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches” was the most thrilling performance I’ve ever seen in my life. Jaw-dropping and inspiring. RIP,’ another added.

One more said: ‘What a great actor. Thank you for so many great performances Rob Liebman.’
