Taylor admitted that the record and production companies were pretty sympathetic artistically to the band at that time.

The drummer remembered how they would hear bits and say, “It’s great!”

He added: “Anyway once you’re halfway through they can’t really get you to stop. They want an album!”

Queen II, featuring the iconic cover photo most associated with Bohemian Rhapsody a year later, was released on March 8, 1974, just a few weeks before the band headlined The Rainbow.
