TINNED dinner legends Fray Bentos have put two sausage-shaped fingers up to the smashed avocado brigade — with a full English breakfast pie.
At £1.50, it has all the key fry-up favourites — baked beans, Cumberland sausage, bacon and black pudding — encased in the firm’s signature puff pastry.
Pie technicians earned their crust by working on the recipe for more than a year.
Now the all-day brekkie treat will initially be sold at Home Bargains stores before becoming available in other outlets.
Kirsty Chalmers, of Fray Bentos, said: “Ready in just 25-30 minutes, it’s the perfect pie for people who want the familiar comfort of an all-day breakfast without the hassle of cooking one — or the washing-up.
“Trendy pastries, cronuts and avocado on sourdough toast have been creeping on to breakfast menus — but for many Brits the traditional full English reigns supreme.”
The firm is also bringing back its chicken curry pie following a ten-year break after it was “inundated” with requests.
The dish, with a new recipe, is now on sale at Asda.
Fray Bentos tinned pies were a kitchen cupboard staple in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, before ready meals were widely available.
