Frank Lampard has been made the bookmakers favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked just hours after his appointment as Chelsea boss.
The former Blues midfielder has signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge, replacing Maurizio Sarri after a season in the Championship with Derby.
But the bookies are not convinced, putting Lampard at joint-favourite – alongside Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær – to be dismissed first in the upcoming season.
The Chelsea legend is priced at 6/1, just ahead of new Brighton boss Graham Potter (7/1) and Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder (10/1).
Lampard will be tasked with bettering Sarri’s first and only season as Chelsea manager, a campaign that included a top-four finish, Europa League title and Carabao Cup final.
But he will have to do so with the club under a transfer embargo and having lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
The difficulty of the challenge for Lampard is reflected in the less than optimistic odds. Chelsea are 14/1 to win the Premier League – not expected to challenge Manchester City, who are favourites again at 8/11 – and 150/1 to do a league and FA Cup double.
