Fortnite is trying to make things easier for inexperienced players, with the introduction of bots in the next update version 10.40.

Epic Games is not only adding bots to Fortnite, they’re revamping the matchmaking system to try and ensure newcomers don’t get picked on by more experienced gamers.

The implementation of bots is mostly for new players who are getting into games with good players and instantly being eliminated. But with computer-controlled enemies, referred to as bots, they can hone their skills and, as they play more, bots will appear less and less as they move on to higher-skilled matches.

Details on the matchmaking are still very vague but according to Epic, ‘you will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents’.

The new matchmaking won’t happen in all regions at the same time, with Epic announcing that they will, ‘slowly roll this out to all regions across the battle royale core modes as we test and monitor how it performs’.

According to Epic Games, after the update has gone live everywhere they will release information about a schedule.

There’s no date for the update yet but if it follows Epic’s usual pattern it’ll probably be tomorrow.

Bots will not be used in any competitive playlists but some players – specifically those that enjoying preying on newcomers – are not so happy with the changes.

One user on the Fortnite subreddit called biwweh states, ‘Gonna be embarrassing to die to a real bot’.
