Fortnite Down: Server status latest as Epic Games start update release

Epic Games has confirmed that a big Fortnite update is being released today on PS4, Xbox, Switch, PC and Mobile.

And that means the Fortnite server status will be offline later today as the dev team prepares to release their next major patch for Chapter 2.

Launched earlier this month with a new map and Battle Pass, Fortnite Chapter 2 needs some fine-tuning.

The good news is that today’s Fortnite update is bringing a new event to the game, which is scheduled to be released by early afternoon in the UK.

But first, Epic Games will need to take servers offline for several hours of maintenance.

Downtime is scheduled to begin at 8am GMT, or 4am ET if you live in the United States.

Epic Games has stuck to a pretty standard regime throughout the lifecycle of Fortnite Battle Royale, but they have changed something during Chapter 2.

We’re no longer receiving detailed patch notes from the Fortnite team as soon as servers go offline.

The change has been quite sudden and means we can’t guarantee what new information will be shared by Epic Games today.

“Facing your fears is way more fun than fleeing them,” a new teaser from Epic Games reads.

“The v11.10 update arrives tomorrow! Downtime will begin at 4 AM ET (0800 UTC).”

The above message hints at the launch of Fortnitemares, the game’s annual Halloween event.

Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnitemares will be launching at around 9am ET today, or 1pm GMT if you live in the UK.

So we’re guaranteed to have the game servers back online in time for the big launch across all platforms.

As always, things could change pretty quickly if problems arise during the updating process.

So fans will want to keep an eye on the official Fortnite social media channels for the latest news being shared by Epic Games.

Fortnitemares will be adding new cosmetic content to the game, some of which can be bought from the item shop.

But Epic Games are also expected to launch some kind of new mode or event, which will give players the chance to unlock seasonal skins.

Much of this has been kept under wraps by the dev team, so we don’t know exactly what will be announced.

The event should bring back popular weapons and items, including the Pumpkin Launcher.

The Fortnitemares limited-time game mode (LTM) is also expected to come with its own set of challenges.

There’s also a chance we could see enemies like the Fiends, Brutes and Golden Brutes make an appearance.

As a numbered update, Epic Games will also fix some ongoing Battle Royale and Save the World issues.

One particularly annoying problem involves the Replay mode, which, according to Epic patch notes, is currently experiencing bugs. Fortunately, the developer has said this should be fixed in update 11.10.

While we don’t know if patch notes will be shared today by Epic Games, there should be an announcement made regarding whatever new content is being added for Fortnitemares.
