Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 5: Zero Point starts today – trailer live now

Galactus and the Marvel universe have gone but Season 5 will feature Agent Jonesy, the Mandalorian, and the greatest hunters in the multiverse.

Fortnite has just concluded what might be its greatest season finale so far, with an epic fight against Galactus, that saw the Marvel universe disentangle from Fortnite and set the stage for Season 5.

If you didn’t witness the finale first-hand it involved firing Battle Buses filled with explosives at Galactus, in a surprisingly involved on-rails shooter sequence, before everything turned to black and the servers were switched off – similar to the end of Season X in Fortnite Chapter 1.

Although Chapter 2, Season 5 hasn’t started at time of writing the cinematic and Battle Pass trailers have just gone live, with Epic confirming it’s called Zero Point and will feature Jonesy recruiting ‘the greatest hunters across realities’ to stop players from escaping the Loop (i.e. the normal Fortnite reality).

Although his presence already leaked a while back the first hunter is the Mandalorian, but it seems that the rest are all original Fortnite characters.

Naturally, there’s a new Battle Pass and it includes not just the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda but also Mave the shapeshifter and ahem Mancake the fighting Flapjack.

That’s only the first wave though, with Epic hinting at more hunters ‘from the realities beyond the Loop’. Your guess is as good as ours as to what that could mean but the predator is already looking like a pretty good bet.

The unusually long wait for Season 5 to begin is because there are now a number of new locations, including a quasi-Roman arena, a new jungle area, and a desert around the now exposed Zero Point (the mysterious orb that sits beneath the island, that Galactus was after).

That’s not the only shake-up to the usual Fortnite routine though as you’ll now be able to pick up quests and bounties from the new island characters or even hire them to be your ally or challenge them to a duel.

There’s also a new in-game currency called Bars, which is earned by completing quests and bounties and can be spent on new exotic weapons, upgrades, and services.

Speaking of weapons there’s the new Dragon’s Breath shotgun, the Mandalorian’s Amban Sniper Rifle (the one that disintegrates people), and the auto-tracking Night Hawk.

What time does Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 5: Zero Point start?

Epic Games hasn’t said when exactly the new season will start but it’s expected to be the morning of Wednesday, December 2.

They’re never specific about when a season starts because it’s a big job switching things over and they can never be sure exactly how long it’ll take.

I’d be surprising if things weren’t up and running by midday, UK time, though and a shock if it’s not live by the end of the day.
