Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 UPDATE: Season 1 end date changed by Epic Games

Epic Game has announced major changes to the Fortnite Chapter Season 2 release schedule on all platforms.

Until earlier this week, Fortnite gamers were expecting to see the start of Fortnite Season 2 during December 2019.

There was no sure date for it to begin, but it was being predicted that the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1end date would fall on December 12, 2019.

But in a surprise move, Epic Games has now confirmed that they have dramatically changed their plans.

Like in 2018, it appears Epic Games will be going on an extended break during the Winter Holidays.

And the decision has been made to delay the launch of Fortnite Season 2 until early February 2020.

It’s a huge extension, meaning that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 will be one of the longest in recent years.

Lots of things have been different with Fortnite Chapter 2, including a new map and a ton of different features being added to the game.

But fans will be hoping that long seasons don’t become a firm feature in the future.

Fortnite Battle Royale has thrived on its constant renewals and even though popularity has waned a little, it still keeps its audience very busy.

Here’s the latest news from Epic Games regarding the Fortnite Season 1 end date changes:

“With a new year comes new beginnings! Last year we celebrated 14 Days of Fortnite over the holidays.

“This year we’ve got even more content for you to unwrap, including new game features, free rewards and a live experience that you won’t want to miss.

“To prepare for all the new holiday-themed updates, we will be extending Chapter 2’s first season into early February. Get ready for winter.”

WHEN DOES FORTNITE SEASON 2 CHAPTER 1 END?

Fortnite Season 2 Chapter 1 will be ending in February 2020, instead of December 2019.

The news was confirmed today and now the official Epic Games website has been updated with the new date.

According to the Battle Pass page, Fortnite Season 1 will now end on February 6, 2020.

The long extension could also mean some exciting news for Save the World gamers too.

Epic Games has been promising a switch to a free-to-play model for some time.

A new wave of players could help push faster development cycles from the team, which would prove popular with the current player base.

A change like this, make Save the World F2P, as part of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 launch, would make it a big deal.

It’s was always going to be hard upstaging the launch of a new map and it looks like Epic Games has given themselves plenty of time to try and top it.

It’s unclear if Epic Games will be holding some kind of Winter event to help celebrate the change in Season.

It would make sense to do so, as last year saw the snow biome expand across more of the map.

More news could be shared in the coming weeks for Fortnite Battle Royale gamers hungry for news.
