  • Anders Hørsholt, a former CEO of Danish soccer club FC Copenhagen, will join Astralis, Origen, and Future FC parent company Astralis Group as co-CEO on Oct 1.
  • Hørsholt’s addition to the management team will free Astralis founder and CEO Nikolaj Nyholms’ resources to work on general business development.
  • Hørsholt currently holds a position as vice president at MTG Nordic developing esports sports games in Europe.

Astralis Group, the parent company behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team Astralis, League of Legends European Championship (LEC) franchise Origen, and FIFA squad Future FC, today announced the addition of Anders Hørsholt as co-CEO to work next to Nikolaj Nyholm, the founder and current CEO of the group.

Currently, Hørsholt holds a position as vice president at MTG Nordic, where he is presently responsible for the development of “esports sports games” in Europe. Before that, Hørsholt was the CEO of Danish soccer club FC Copenhagen for nine years. Hørsholt will join Astralis Group in his new position on Oct 1.

“Anders will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization and together with CCO Jakob Lund Kristensen, Sports Director Kasper Hvidt and VP of Brand and Comms Steen Laursen, Anders will continue the work positioning Astralis Group as a global leader in the esports industry,” explained Nyholm in a release. “He will be working with the organization around our three present teams, Origen in League of Legends, Future FC in FIFA, and Astralis in Counter-Strike, while also looking into new titles. We will focus on fan relations, content and commercial activities in order to strengthen both the business, but also the facilities and performance tools around the individual players and teams.”

“I introduced esports in FC Copenhagen where we launched North around the same time as Astralis became a part of RFRSH and I have watched how the organization around Astralis has managed to position themselves not only in the media landscape, but also performance-wise and commercially. I will become a part of a very strong and experienced organization, which is a challenge I am really looking forward to taking on,” said Hørsholt. “Over the past couple of years, Nikolaj and I have had an ongoing dialogue around our teams and when he and Jakob Lund bought out the teams from RFRSH Entertainment, the discussion evolved and it seems like a logical step to join the group now. I see a massive job ahead of us, but an equally massive potential in Astralis Group.”
