Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes Unai Emery should be sacked and has named four potential replacements for the under-fire manager at the Emirates.

Emery is under huge pressure at Arsenal, with his side winning just one of their last four Premier League fixtures to slip to fifth in the table.

A number of pundits have questioned whether Arsenal have even improved since Arsene Wenger left last year and the Gunners suffered a penalty shootout defeat to a much-changed Liverpool side in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Campbell says Arsenal are ‘regressing’ under Emery and picked out Massimiliano Allegri, Luis Enrique, Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira as possible candidates to replace the Spanish boss.

Speaking to AFTV, the former Arsenal star said: ‘What has Unai Emery done to make us better?

‘I used to back managers, but I don’t back managers anymore because it’s wrong. When you back managers, you get stuck with that manager. And I don’t want to be stuck to any managers.

‘I want Arsenal to progress and to be able to go and challenge. I don’t see it! So, I am calling out Unai Emery, right now because I am not seeing that.

‘I think we’re regressing. In my opinion, Unai Emery, thanks for trying, but we’re going to go a different direction.

‘The board should be getting him out and getting in someone like an Allegri or someone of that ilk. Luis Enrique, I like Luis Enrique – people even mentioned Arteta. What about Patrick Vieira?’

Arsenal were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool on Wednesday. The match finished 5-5 after 90 minutes and the Reds held their nerve to emerge triumphant from the penalty shootout.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool striker Divock Origi said: ‘At Anfield we’ve had a lot of special nights but this is another one.

‘For the club and the team it was an important moment because there were a lot of young guys with a lot of energy, and we tried to make it a special night.’
