On stepping into the new role, he commented: “The esports industry’s growth into the mainstream brings with it a number of new opportunities. Companies are now, more than ever, trying to find their voice in this space to engage competitive gamers, streamers and viewers. During his six years with Amazon, Sengamalay amanaged the advertising of hardware and devices – including launching the first ads for the Fire TV. Yohan will also draw on his experience as a strategic leader with the Xbox Live team at Microsoft, where he developed sponsorship programs and oversaw all in-game advertising for first-party games like Halo, Gears of War, and Forza Motorsport.

Jason Xu, CEO of Battlefy discussed the hire: “Battlefy’s success to date is all credited to our team and our philosophy of bringing young, passionate esports operators together with industry veterans in gaming, tech, and media. Yohan’s unique background in delivering scalable solutions for enterprise, media, and game studio partners will massively accelerate the next stage of our growth and help us mature as an organization. We are extremely excited to welcome Yohan to the family.”

Esports Insider says: Yohan’s experience across multiple areas at large scale operations like Amazon and Microsoft will certainly be beneficial for Battlefy following its gaming arena announcement with MSI. How he steers the company’s relationships will definitely make Battlefy one to watch over the year.
