Our expert’s MLS predictions

New York Red Bulls 2 – 1 Real Salt Lake

The Red Bulls have charged into play-off contention in the Eastern Conference with 5 wins in their last 7 matches. They can continue that run of good form with a hard fought win against an improving Real Salt Lake.

Columbus Crew 0 – 2 New York City FC

NYFC are one of the form teams in MLS. Unbeaten in their last 8 and defensively solid, NYFC can maintain their momentum here, with another clean sheet against a Columbus side in freefall

DC United 3 – 1 San Jose Earthquakes

A battle of 2 veteran strikers as England’s record goal scorer, Wayne Rooney faces the recently crowned, all time MLS record goal scorer Chris Wondolowski. Rooney can help DC get the upper hand against the Earthquakes, who don’t travel well.

FC Dallas 1 – 1 Seattle Sounders FC

Dallas have gone 6 without a win and will be desperate to get their season back on track. Next up they face high flying Seattle, who are difficult to beat, but don’t win many on the road. This could be tight and both teams may have to settle for a share of the points.

Colorado Rapids 2 – 0 FC Cincinnati

2 MLS strugglers match up here. Colorado had an abysmal start to the season, but have started to show signs of life in recent weeks. FC Cincinnati, in their first ever MLS season are struggling, with just 1 win in 10. Home advantage gives the Rapids the edge.
