Severe storms have brought a month’s rainfall in less than 24 hours to parts of central and northern England. Police have said a woman’s body has been found near a stretch of the River Derwent close to the town of Darley Dale in Derbyshire, while in Sheffield dozens of people were trapped in a shopping centre overnight after becoming stranded by rising waters.
